For my latest project, I worked with Travis Harvey who owns of VGR — an eclectic and colorful record store in Muncie, Indiana. A Ball State alumn, he has been running the record store for 10 years. It is a welcoming store that pushes people to experiment and try out new music. Harvey lets customers spin records to try before they buy and gives tailored recommendations based on what patrons already love.
I worked closely with Travis for my latest project, researching his store, interviewing him, and running through iterations of the identity design until we reached the final design solution.
I was inspired by the clouds and blue sky painted on the floor of the record store, and kept in mind the advice Travis gave me to design a playful, interactive logo that captured the experimental and colorful vibe of VGR.
